The FGI/St. Jude Vocational Academy
EMPOWERING VULNERABLE PEOPLE TO LIVE SELF-SUFFICIENT LIVES.
First incorporated in Uganda, Dec. 2011, a faith based but non-discriminating charity. The organization with it's academy are founded on:
a) Vision: Being a network of individuals and institutions embracing practical and progressive ways to demonstrate Christian love and values in all segments of society"
b) Mission: "To empower vulnerable individuals through an integrated approach for sustainable community development by strengthening critical links between skills (knowledge), health, and household income generation".
c) Target Group: "The most vulnerable - women, children, and youths (widows, single mothers, orphans, and juveniles)".
d) Activities: "Construction/furnishing academy, skills training, and child support (EAST-Project), slums sanitation and health outreach activities (COP-Project), business skills and small grants/loans ($100) for micro enterprise start-ups (MEID-Project)".
e) Current Funding Sources: "Sales from crafts/artworks, local donations (in kind): volunteers and membership contributions".
f) Challenges: "Inadequate resources (human, facilities, and funding) for full implementation of programs and activities".
